The first records of the Hungarian spirit date back to the 14th century, referred to as \u201cAqua vitae reginae Hungariae,\u201d<\/em> the aqua vitae<\/em> of the wife of the King Charles of Hungary. This spirit was probably a brandy blended with rosemary, and had its use in medicine, as both the king and the queen suffered from arthritis. C\u00e9lja a k\u00f6lt\u0151 m\u00e1r emigr\u00e1ci\u00f3ban \u00edrt m\u0171ve magyars\u00e1ggal \u00e9s annak j\u00f6v\u0151j\u00e9vel kapcsolatos gondolatainak a t\u00e1rgyal\u00e1sa, illetve a versben fellelhet\u0151 magyar kultur\u00e1lis \u00e9s irodalmi utal\u00e1sok (Kosztol\u00e1nyi Dezs\u0151, V\u00f6r\u00f6smarty Mih\u00e1ly, Arany J\u00e1nos, Bart\u00f3k B\u00e9la, stb.) felt\u00e9rk\u00e9pez\u00e9se, amelyek mind M\u00e1rai elk\u00f6telezett magyars\u00e1gtudat\u00e1r\u00f3l, magyar identit\u00e1shoz val\u00f3 ragaszkod\u00e1s\u00e1r\u00f3l tesznek tan\u00fabizonys\u00e1got. ABOUT THE PRESENTER:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. D\u00e9nes M\u00e1ty\u00e1s<\/strong> is a Fulbright Visiting Professor in Hungarian language and culture at the Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Cleveland State University during the academic year 2015-2016. He graduated with Master\u2019s degrees in American Studies and in Italian Language, Literature, and Culture from the University of Szeged, Hungary, and he also earned his diploma in Hungarian Studies Instruction for Foreigners there. He completed his doctoral studies at the Graduate School in Literature in Szeged, earning his PhD in 2014. He held courses, lectures and language classes at the Central European International Studies Center and the Department of Italian Studies at the University of Szeged for several years, and he was also a Visiting Assistant Lecturer at the Department of East European Studies (2009-2010) at the University of Naples \u201cL\u2019Orientale,\u201d in Italy.<\/p>\n

ABOUT THE PRESENTATION:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The presentation intends to analyze S\u00e1ndor M\u00e1rai\u2019s Halotti besz\u00e9d<\/em> (Funeral Oration<\/em>, 1951) written already in emigration. It aims to explore M\u00e1rai\u2019s thoughts about Hungarian identity and about emigrants\u2019 possible future, as well as to highlight the various references the poem makes to Hungarian culture and literature (Dezs\u0151 Kosztol\u00e1nyi, Mih\u00e1ly V\u00f6r\u00f6smarty, J\u00e1nos Arany, B\u00e9la Bart\u00f3k, etc.) which all reflect the poet\u2019s deep adherence to his being Hungarian. By analyzing Funeral Oration<\/em>, the presentation aims also to see what possibilities M\u00e1rai may have seen for the preservation of Hungarian identity.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Gergely B\u00f6d\u0151k <\/strong>was born in 1983 in Dunaszerdahely. After his 2001 high-school graduation from the Selye J\u00e1nos Gimn\u00e1zium in Kom\u00e1rom (Slovakia), he was awarded his University diploma from E\u00f6tv\u00f6s Lor\u00e1nd University in Budapest, majoring in history and political science. Since 2012, he has been a doctoral candidate at the Eszterh\u00e1zy K\u00e1roly College in Eger. His areas of interest are the impact of the First World War, the Hungarian Red and White Terror, the Hungarian Soviet Republic, and Hungarian history in the first half of the twentieth century. His scholarly works have been published in prestigious journals including Komment\u00e1r,<\/em> M\u00faltunk<\/em>, Limes, <\/em>and Rubico<\/em>. As of this past summer, he has also been publishing his studies in the www.mandiner.hu<\/a> webportal. Beginning in November 2015, he has been appointed a Fellow of the Mikes Kelemen Program here in Cleveland, OH.<\/p>\n

Bob Clementis-Z\u00e1hony<\/strong> worked for the United States Army Europe Forward (USAREUR FWD) in Tasz\u00e1r, Hungary, as a Hungarian interpreter for the Secretary of the General Staff in the mid-1990s. His skills were critical to the success in a foreign country of operation on a presidential peace keeping mission. As an excellent, effective, and positive communicator he was hand selected to translate for the USAREUR FWD Commanding Group. His duties included serving as an interpreter for the Commanding General V Corps. Lieutenant General Abrams, Deputy Commanding General, Major General Yates, the Chief of Staff Brigadier General Casey as well as for other senior officers. Given his strong presence at meetings, he was again hand selected from a company of interpreters to translate for Admiral Smith, the Commander, NATO Implementation Forces, in a politically sensitive meeting with the mayors of Tasz\u00e1r, Kaposv\u00e1r, Kaposujlak and the County Commissioner. Bob provides an intellectual atmosphere conducive to stimulation and interchange of ideas. He has been praised by many for his strong writing and editing skills and his excellence in converting complex information into more easily understandable form. Based on the novel by Hungarian writer \u00c1ron Tam\u00e1si (1897-1966), the film is set in the richly forested Hargita Mountains, handed over to Romania under the World War I peace treaty. \u00c1bel, forced to work as a logging guard away from his poor parents\u2019 home, soon cuts a deal whereby he gets to keep any trees felled by natural causes. \u00c1bel tweaks the arrangement by using unexploded bombs to blast down more arbors. Upon emigrating to the United States in 1956, he commenced a career in mechanical engineering. In the 60s and 70s, he took action to reconnect with his love of art, and learned the art of watercolor painting from several renowned artists, focusing on landscape, still life and floral paintings.<\/td>\n\"nepviselet\"<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Although he had been giving paintings to appreciative family and friends, Emery\u2019s first public one-man show was in 1999 at the Parma Area Fine Arts Council (PAFAC). Since then, he has exhibited his works at numerous shows in Greater Cleveland. In fall of 1999, Emery made the transition from student to teacher at the PAFAC by teaching beginning watercolor classes, and continues to teach two classes on an ongoing basis. As a mainly self-taught artist, he strives to create realistic paintings in his own unique style, and reflecting warm memories of his homeland and the beauty around him.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\u00a0\u00a0Amerigo Makk <\/strong>(1927-2015), was the last head of our \u00c1rp\u00e1d Academy Fine Arts Division. Born in Hungary, he studied art at the Hungarian National Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. Here, inspired by a thousand year old culture in a land of courage and dignity, he quickly won first place for capturing on canvas the thunder of spirited men and horses echoing on ancient plains. He also won the coveted Italian Scholarship to Rome which allowed him to enlarge his vision and his techniques, and where he won the Vatican Portrait Award for his painting of the late Cardinal Mindszenty of Hungary. Among Amerigo Makk\u2019s later other famous portraits are those of US presidents including Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter. He and his wife, Eva, are world renowned painters. They met in Rome and were married in Sao Paulo. Brazil, where they were both appointed Professors at the Academia de Bellas Artes. Coming to New York in 1962, the Makks created murals in both Catholic and Protestant churches and an era of award winning cosmopolitan paintings, including those of the American West. They moved to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1967. They are celebrated by their many honors and awards listed in several international biographies, including Two Thousand Men and Women of Achievement, Who\u2019s Who in America, International Register of Profiles, Hungarians In America, Who\u2019s Who in Art and Antiques, Who\u2019s Who in Intellectuals<\/em>, and many others.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Pittsburgh mellett, McKeesporton telepedt\u00fcnk le, ahol a f\u00e9rjem reform\u00e1tus lelk\u00e9sz volt. 1980-t\u00f3l 1992-ig Niles-ben (Ohio) laktunk. Itt sz\u00fcletett harmadik gyermek\u00fcnk. Pittsburgh-ben gy\u00f3gyszer\u00e9sz technikusi k\u00e9pes\u00edt\u00e9st \u00e9s Associates Degree-t kaptam, majd Youngstownban folytattam tanulm\u00e1nyaimat, ahol Bachelor’s Degree-t \u00e9s Master’s Degree-t (Biology) szereztem, mint labor\u00e1ns (Medical technologist). \u00d6sszesen 20 \u00e9vig dolgoztam laborat\u00f3riumban. 1992 \u00f3ta Brecksvillben lakunk. 1992-t\u0151l 2013-ban t\u00f6rt\u00e9nt nyugd\u00edjaz\u00e1somig a Cleveland-i Veter\u00e1n K\u00f3rhazban dolgoztam. Id\u0151k\u00f6zben Ada-ban (Ohio) gy\u00f3gyszer\u00e9szi k\u00e9pes\u00edt\u00e9st kaptam (Bachelor’s Degree of Pharmacy), majd ugyanitt a gy\u00f3gyszer\u00e9szetben doktori diplom\u00e1t is szereztem (Doctor of Pharmacy). About Mrs. Erzs\u00e9bet Uszkai Orosz<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI was born in Szil\u00e1gysomly\u00f3 (Transylvania) at the foot of the Magura Mountain, on the banks of the Kraszna River. Szil\u00e1gysomly\u00f3 is also the birthplace of Istv\u00e1n (Stephen) B\u00e1thory, who was a Ruler of Transylvania and a King of Poland. The ruins of the castle of Somly\u00f3, originally built in 1319, still stand on the top of the Magura Mountain. The bastions of the B\u00e1thory Castle, built in 1592, are still to be found in the town. I completed a degree as a pharmacy technician in Nagyv\u00e1rad (Oradea, Transylvania, Romania). I worked there until 1978, when with our two children I emigrated to the United States, to McKeesport near Pittsburgh, PA, where my husband was a minister of the Reformed Church. From 1980 to 1992 we lived in Niles, OH. Our third child was born there. In Pittsburgh I earned a certificate of Pharmacy Technician and an Associate Degree. I then continued my studies in Youngstown, where I was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology and a Master’s Degree in Biology. In 1992 we moved to Brecksville, OH. I have worked in the laboratory for twenty years. I completed my studies for a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, in Ada, OH, where I was also awarded my Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. Trying to preserve my Transylvanian heritage in our home, I have surrounded myself with works of art from Transylvania. I have brought samples of these to the exhibition. My Mother, Mother-in-law and I, myself have prepared most of the needlework. I have collected the rest of them in Transylvanian villages.\u201d<\/em><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

– A ’80-as \u00e9vek v\u00e9ge fel\u00e9, az \u00e1talakul\u00e1s zavaros id\u0151szak\u00e1ban egyre er\u0151sebben \u00e9reztem, hogy valamilyen m\u00f3don nekem is hozz\u00e1 kell j\u00e1rulnom a tisztul\u00e1shoz. Ekkor k\u00f6t\u00f6ttem ki a tiszta, term\u00e9szetes anyag, a gyapj\u00fa mellett. K\u00e9peimet mindig igyekszem \u00fagy megfogalmazni, hogy az \u00fagynevezett \u00e1tlagember is \u00e9rtse, mit szeretn\u00e9k kifejezni. S aki meg\u00e9rti, az tudja: soha nem valami ellen sz\u00f3lok, hanem mindig valami\u00e9rt. A b\u00e9kess\u00e9g\u00e9rt, a term\u00e9szet\u00e9rt, a sz\u00fcl\u0151f\u00f6ld\u00e9rt. We welcome L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Sz\u00e9phalmi Jurk\u00f3<\/strong> from Miskolc, Hungary, who will be exhibiting not only art works, but a collection of WW I photos featuring Hungarian soldiers, and several etchings. Mr. Jurk\u00f3 is an artist whose primary medium is a wool canvas. This allows him to create 3D landscapes. This textile art has brought him international acclaim. Some of his works are on display in the Tillsburgh textile factory museum in Holland.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Judith Petres Balogh,<\/strong> retired educator, was first employed in Solon (Ohio) and later hired by the US Department of Defense. She was stationed in Germany where she taught classes for the Talented and Gifted at various US military bases, (Rhein-Main, Hanau, Babenhausen, Darmstadt). After earning a second Master\u2019s Degree, she was promoted to administration. Author of seven books in Hungarian and in English, she is currently residing in Hungary traveling, writing and taking active part in the local community’s intellectual and religious life.<\/p>\n

ABOUT THIS BOOK:<\/strong><\/p>\n

This book is the true story of children, made homeless at the conclusion of World War Two, who found a home in an unusual school at an unusual time. It is the story of dedicated teachers, remarkable, supportive parents and spirited youngsters, rapidly growing to adulthood during highly unusual circumstances. The story is about people and about their struggles to overcome the ordeal of witnessing the collapse of the familiar. While facing the loss of home, future, and security, they managed to transmit to their children, or to their students those values and ideals which were the very foundation of their former life. The story is as much part of history as those of the famous battles. It is a tale of time gone by. Anne Frank, Helga Weiss, and Nobel Prize winner Imre Kert\u00e9sz wrote about Jewish children and youth living or disappearing in the horror of the Holocaust; Esther Hautzig recounted Jewish children deported to the Soviet Union; Helen Szablya and Tibor Fischer wrote about youth surviving in Communist Hungary just after World War Two. The present book fills a gap: it describes, for the first time, the life of the young people, who had to flee their homes toward the end of the war, leaving everything behind. They had to rebuild their life in a country totally foreign to them during bewildering times. In this respect, the above mentioned books are related to the SCHOOL OF A DIFFERENT KIND because it too tells about the true, innocent and unsung victims of a war: children and young adults. Despite its documentary aspect, it is easy reading because joy and humor were just as part of the life in the school, as was serious studying paired with hunger and cold. ABOUT THE PRESENTATION:<\/strong><\/p>\n

This study attempts to document the influence of a second language (L2) on the first language (L1) of heritage speakers and reveal language preservation processes that occur in heritage communities throughout the United States. The heritage speakers studied are members of the Hungarian community of the Greater Cleveland Area. The goal of this study is to ascertain the cultural elements of the Hungarian community and analyze their impact on Hungarian language ability among heritage speakers. The data was collected through the construction of a survey, and introduced through interviews with volunteers from the Hungarian community. We aim to study several generations of Hungarians and how their language has been preserved by their culture and connection to the community, specifically through the Hungarian Scouts Program and community events, and how their language has been affected by living in an English-dominant culture both in original immigrants through 3rd<\/sup>generation speakers. Our hypotheses are as follows: People who are more connected to Hungarian community will show closer similarity to the native Hungarians in their linguistic abilities, does the generation affect the similarity of their language to the native language?, comfort level of identity and connectedness are correlated to each other; higher comfort levels equate to higher connectedness, participation in Scouts leads to a more native-like sounding language.<\/p>\n

The interview process involved members of the Hungarian community that range from original immigrants to third generation speakers. The findings of this study revealed that the heritage and culture relating to the Hungarian community was a key factor in allowing the language to be preserved after several generations in the United States. The study also found that heritage speakers differ from native speakers of Hungarian in all categories tested. English has influenced all syntactic items tested including word order, null subjects, and focus.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0ABOUT THE KEYNOTE SPEAKER:<\/strong>Dr. S\u00e1ndor Szak\u00e1ly<\/strong> (b. 1955) graduated from the Faculty of Arts at Lor\u00e1nd E\u00f6tv\u00f6s University, Budapest in 1980 with a degree in Library Science and History. In 1982, he earned his Doctor of Humanities degree \u201csumma cum laude,\u201d and in 1990 he was awarded his Candidate of Historical Science degree. In 2006 he was admitted to the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and habilitated [qualified to teach] as a Doctor of Historical Science at the university level. He was appointed vice-rector for science and research of the National University of Public Service in 2013. His research interests are the 19th<\/sup>-20th<\/sup>-century Hungarian military, social and sport history, and history of law enforcement. In addition, he has obtained membership in several prestigious academic organizations and associations. Currently, he is the Director of the Veritas Historial Research Institute. Originally from Cleveland, he is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University, School of Dentistry and has a Master’s in Oral Biology from the George Washington University. His Naval assignments have included Camp Pendleton, California; Okinawa, Japan; Yokosuka, Japan; Naples, Italy; and Bethesda. ABOUT THE SPEAKER:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Arthur Allan B\u00e1rtfay<\/strong> is a past president (1980s) of the Columbus, Ohio Branch 129 of the William Penn Association. He was born on a farm near Flint, Michigan to Hungarian parents who immigrated to America in 1912. He earned a BA & MA from Michigan State University in East Lansing. He had a career in commercial & public broadcasting, retiring –after 25 years–from the staff of The Ohio State University. In 2005, he taught conversational English to teenagers in Temesv\u00e1r, Transylvania. In 2010, he delivered a paper at the American Hungarian Educators Association at the U of Szeged in Hungary, entitled \u201cThe Legacy Louis Kossuth’s 1851-52 American Visit: five Kossuth villages (in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Mississippi), two Kossuth townships (in Wisconsin & Maine), and one Kossuth County (in Iowa). The paper was accompanied by information about and pictures from the eight locations). A m\u00e1sodik oszt\u00e1lyt m\u00e1r Clevelandben kezdtem. \u00d6r\u00f6mmel ismertem meg egyre t\u00f6bb \u00e9s t\u00f6bb ugyanolyan DP magyar gyereket, mint \u00e9n voltam. Ezek az ismerets\u00e9gek k\u00f6zeli bar\u00e1ts\u00e1gg\u00e1 fejl\u0151dtek. \u00d6r\u00f6mmel l\u00e9ptem be az \u00fajonnan megalakult clevelandi magyar cserk\u00e9szetbe, ami felt\u00e9tlen\u00fcl ir\u00e1ny\u00edtotta sok mindenben \u00e9letemet \u00e9s er\u0151s\u00edtette a magyars\u00e1ghoz tartoz\u00e1somat. Az itt elnyert sz\u00e9p cserk\u00e9sz \u00e9lm\u00e9nyek felt\u00e9tlen\u00fcl hozz\u00e1j\u00e1rultak ahhoz, hogy m\u00e9g ma is sz\u00edvemben magyar vagyok, \u00e9s ennek a magyar k\u00f6z\u00f6ss\u00e9gnek tagja vagyok. Iskolai tanulm\u00e1nyaimat a Beaumont High Schoolban, az Orsolya-ap\u00e1carend kiv\u00e1l\u00f3 egyetemi el\u0151k\u00e9sz\u00edt\u0151 iskol\u00e1j\u00e1ban folytattam, majd \u00e9retts\u00e9gi ut\u00e1n a clevelandi Notre Dame egyetemen tanultam, \u00e9s 1965-ben Bachelor of Science diplom\u00e1t szereztem matematik\u00e1b\u00f3l \u00e9s fizik\u00e1b\u00f3l. Ezzel a v\u00e9gzetts\u00e9gemmel a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) alkalmazottja lettem, mint \u201eaerospace mathematician\u201d 1973-ig. K\u00f6zben folytattam tanulm\u00e1nyaimat a John Carroll Egyetemen, \u00e9s megszereztem a Master of Science diplom\u00e1t matematik\u00e1b\u00f3l. 1967-ben f\u00e9rjhez mentem Peller Mik\u00f3s \u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9sz-statikus m\u00e9rn\u00f6kh\u00f6z, majd n\u00e9gy aranyos gyermek \u00e9desanyja lettem. 1974-t\u0151l a Cuyahoga Community College adjunktus professzora voltam \u00e9s miut\u00e1n gyermekeim el\u00e9rt\u00e9k a fels\u0151bb oszt\u00e1lyokat, 1984-t\u0151l 2011-ig \u201etenured\u201d matematikai professzora voltam a Cuyahoga Community College-nak.<\/em><\/p>\n

T\u00f6bb mint 25 \u00e9ven \u00e1t szerkesztettem a clevelandi cserk\u00e9sz \u00e9rtes\u00edt\u0151t, a J\u00f3 Munk\u00e1t!, ami\u00e9rt a Csodaszarvas D\u00edj kit\u00fcntet\u00e9ssel jutalmaztak. A 34. le\u00e1nycsapat sz\u00fcl\u0151i fenntart\u00f3 test\u00fclet\u00e9nek tagja \u00e9s t\u00f6bb \u00e9ven \u00e1t eln\u00f6ke valamint a Cserk\u00e9sz Bar\u00e1tok K\u00f6r\u00e9nek v\u00e1lasztm\u00e1nyi tagja voltam. A clevelandi nyugatoldali magyar iskol\u00e1ban sok \u00e9ven \u00e1t tan\u00edtottam. A Seg\u00e9ly Egylet eln\u00f6ke voltam 5 \u00e9ven \u00e1t. A Magyar T\u00e1rsas\u00e1g Tisztikar\u00e1nak tagja vagyok, ahol az \u00e9vi tal\u00e1lkoz\u00f3n t\u00f6bb el\u0151ad\u00e1st tartottam, konfer\u00e1ltam \u00e9s megszerveztem az irodalmi-m\u0171v\u00e9szestet t\u00f6bb \u00e9ven \u00e1t. A Magyar T\u00e1rsas\u00e1g \u00c1rp\u00e1d \u00e9remmel jutalmazott.<\/em><\/p>\n

A Szent Imre Templomban \u00f6nk\u00e9ntesk\u00e9nt seg\u00edtek a pl\u00e9b\u00e1nia irod\u00e1j\u00e1ban. A templomunk 90-ik \u00e9vfordul\u00f3j\u00e1ra 1994-ben \u00e9s a 100-\u00e9ves \u00e9vfordul\u00f3 meg\u00fcnnepl\u00e9s\u00e9re 2004-ben megszerkesztettem a jubileumi eml\u00e9kk\u00f6nyveket. Templomunk \u00e9rdek\u00e9ben kifejtett \u00f6nk\u00e9ntes munk\u00e1im\u00e9rt a Szent L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Rend \u00e9s T\u00e1rsas\u00e1g lovagkereszttel t\u00fcntetett ki.<\/em><\/p>\n

Amikor 2009-ben a Szent Imre Templomot megy\u00e9s p\u00fcsp\u00f6k\u00fcnk bez\u00e1r\u00e1sra \u00edt\u00e9lte, f\u00e9rjemmel egy\u00fctt bonyol\u00edtottuk le hossz\u00fa napokon \u00e9s \u00e9jjeleken \u00e1t a Vatik\u00e1nnal a p\u00fcsp\u00f6ki d\u00f6nt\u00e9s megfellebbez\u00e9s\u00e9t. K\u00e9t \u00e9v \u00e9s 11 h\u00f3nap ut\u00e1n 2012-ben hossz\u00fa kitart\u00f3 munk\u00e1nk meghozta gy\u00fcm\u00f6lcs\u00e9t: a Vatik\u00e1n elfogadta \u00e9s j\u00f3v\u00e1hagyta felfolyamod\u00e1sunkat \u00e9s \u00edgy templomunk \u00fajra kiny\u00edlt.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

ABOUT THE PRESENTER AND THE PRESENTATION:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Julie (Panni) N\u00e1das Lud\u00e1nyi<\/strong> was born in Austria and came to the US at age 3. She was active in the Hungarian Scouts in Cleveland. She was a member of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Cleveland. She went to Hungary for the first time in her life at the age of 21. She received a BS from Cleveland State and became a mathematics teacher. Later she received an MA degree from Indiana University in Uralic Studies (area of concentration in Hungarian Studies). And in 1995 she received an MA in Pastoral Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary.<\/p>\n

She was an Instructor of Hungarian in the Summer Hungarian Studies Program at Portland State University for 6 years, and in a similar program at ONU for an additional 3 years. She was one of a team of two writers, preparing individualized instruction materials for Hungarian Language Instruction at Ohio State University (1983-86), and Co-Director of a Fulbright Fellowship Group of 15 educators to Hungary for 6 weeks, acting as the interpreter of the group (1991). She also was the author of a series of children\u2019s workbooks called \u201cIrka-Firka<\/em>\u201d for Hungarian children living in the USA. She taught English as a second language in Debrecen Hungary for a year (1992-93). She has taught Mathematics at the high school and college level for a total of 37 years, recently retiring. She was an Ohio Jennings Scholar in 2001, and president of the local Teachers\u2019 Association for two years.<\/p>\n

Since 2004, she has gone to Transylvania, Romania almost every year joining a team from Northern Ireland or England to teach English to 45 Hungarian children at a Christian youth camp (the English camp) for 10 to 15 years olds, and also to be one of the translators at the camp. This past summer for the first time she took a team of 8 from her small town of Ada, Ohio, mostly from her own church (Ada First Presbyterian Church). She will be talking about this team trip on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

P\u00e9ter Szilvay\u2019s work history is<\/strong> built around analytics and leadership, incorporating financial and programming knowledge. He has International work experience and broad industrial insight.<\/strong> He has been a contractual consultant in the USA and Hungary as an Analyst & Developer for data management for media and healthcare companies. From 2010\u20142014 he was at Candelier Communications (IT & communications agency) in Hungary where he was the Lead Analyst & Managing Director and worked with clients including Pfizer, Unilever, T-Mobile, Heineken, Bacardi, Martini. From 2003-2010 he was employed by Trenkwalder, Tesco Global, Hungarian Post Ltd. and Morpho Communications, where his projects included analyzing market data, developing tender presentations, assisting with finance, communications, marketing, human resources, asset tenancy and logistics. He is a popular guest lecturer in his field. He is currently at Niagara University in Niagara Falls, NY, with the Calasanctius Fellowship program, and where he is pursuing a Master of Business Administration in Finance which he expects to be awarded in 2016. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 2011 at the Budapest Business School, College of International Management and Business, in Budapest, Hungary and from which he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Among his many awards is the Special Award of Green Cities, National Destination Marketing Competition in 2010 and a Mensa Certificate.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
