Note: program may change.<\/em> — This year\u2019s Hungarian Congress will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Hungarian Association in America. We cherish our Hungarian heritage and traditions while we are equally proud to be Americans, Europeans, and citizens of the world community. Our Planning Committee, including Etu <\/b>Alapi<\/b>, <\/b>Dr.<\/b> Ildik\u00f3<\/b> Kondray<\/b>, <\/b>Panni<\/b> Lud\u00e1nyi<\/b>, <\/b>Gabriella<\/b> N\u00e1das<\/b>, <\/b>Ildik\u00f3<\/b> Peller<\/b>, <\/b>Dr.<\/b> M\u00e1rta<\/b> Pereszl\u00e9nyi<\/b>, <\/b>L\u00e9l<\/b> Somogyi<\/b><\/strong>, and myself, has been hard at work to organize a Hungarian Congress which will appeal to Hungarians old and young, traditional and modern in thinking.<\/p>\n

Our special guest, Major General Robert Iv\u00e1nyi<\/b><\/strong>, personally highlights the ongoing transition of Hungarians in America. His career has taken him from being a renowned football star on the Cleveland St. Ignatius H.S. 1965 city championship team to being the Commandant of the U.S. Army War College. He will be our keynote Luncheon Speaker<\/b><\/strong> on Saturday, November 30, addressing us on the timely topic of the Global War on Terrorism.<\/p>\n

Our Friday night Literary and Performing Arts Program<\/i><\/b><\/em><\/strong> will highlight Ern\u00f6 T\u00e1las<\/b><\/strong>, the internationally renowned Tenor of the Royal Swedish Opera; Judith Neszl\u00e9nyi<\/b><\/strong>, a Liszt Medal recipient concert pianist and composer from Pasadena, California; distinguished pianistMariann \u00c1brah\u00e1m <\/b><\/strong>from Budapest; multi-talented Gabriella Lendvay <\/b><\/strong>from Philadelphia, the always entertaining and instructive Reverend Istv\u00e1n Mustos <\/b><\/strong>from Passaic; the very popular Mikl\u00f3s Peller <\/b><\/strong>of Cleveland; dynamic and moving \u00c9va M\u00e9cs <\/b><\/strong>from Pittsburgh; and hosted by sparkling and talented Ildik\u00f3 Peller<\/b><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Our gala of Fine Art Galleries<\/i><\/b><\/em><\/strong> will showcase exemplary works by Gy\u00f6rgy<\/b> Kozmon<\/b>, <\/b>Imre<\/b> Bog\u00e1rdy<\/b>, Andr\u00e1s and <\/b>Magdi<\/b> Temesv\u00e1ri<\/b><\/strong>, and Gy\u00f6rgy<\/b> B\u00faza<\/b><\/strong>. Our Hungarian Association Bookstore<\/i><\/b><\/em><\/strong> will feature classical and modern Hungarian literature. We will have a special Style Show and Exhibition<\/i><\/b><\/em><\/strong> of exquisite Hungarian garments and finery. On Saturday our culinary experts will provide instruction on Hungarian Cooking.<\/i><\/b><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The heart of our program is the ongoing lecture series taking place from Friday through Sunday. Our second special program will be on Hungarian Women<\/i><\/b><\/em><\/strong>. Enlightening us will be Ildik\u00f3 Peller:<\/b><\/strong> Women in Hungarian History, the Sacred, Profound, Profane; Kati Gy\u00e9k\u00e9nyesi Gatto:<\/b><\/strong> Women in Hungary; M\u00e1ria Friedrich:<\/b><\/strong>Teleki Blanka, and Dr. \u00c1gnes Husz\u00e1r V\u00e1rdy:<\/b><\/strong> Hungarian Women in Forced Labor Camps – 1944-1949.<\/p>\n

There will be a Young Hungarians\u2019 Gathering<\/i><\/b><\/em><\/strong> for college age youth on Friday night featuring an inspirational address by Major General Robert Iv\u00e1nyi<\/b><\/strong> and then comradery, fellowship, and partying.<\/p>\n

Meetings will be held by the Ancient Hungarian Historical Society,<\/i><\/b><\/em><\/strong> the Hungarian Engineering Society, <\/i><\/b><\/em><\/strong>Hungarian<\/i><\/b> Physician<\/i><\/b> Academy<\/i><\/b>,<\/i><\/b><\/em><\/strong> the Hungarian Journalists,<\/i><\/b><\/em><\/strong> the Szent L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Rend and Vit\u00e9zi Rend, <\/i><\/b><\/em><\/strong>and the \u00c1rp\u00e1d<\/i><\/b> Academy<\/i><\/b>.<\/i><\/b><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I hope to meet you there personally, at the presentations, meetings, exhibitions, the Literary and Performing Arts Program, and the tradition-rich Hungarian Ball on Saturday night.<\/p>\n
