Mr. N\u00e9meth was a founding member of FIDESZ and has been a member of the Hungarian<br \/>\nParliament since the first free and democratic elections in 1990. Since 2014, Mr. N\u00e9meth has been<br \/>\nthe Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Hungarian National Assembly, Deputy floor<br \/>\nleader of the Fidesz \u2013 Hungarian Civic Union Parliamentary Group, and the Head of the Hungarian Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly to the Council of Europe (PACE) and since 2016 Vice- president of the EPP-CD Group of the PACE. Between 2016-2018 he was the Vice-president of the PACE.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. N\u00e9meth is a key figure in formulating Fidesz\u2019s foreign policy. He has participated in the<br \/>\npreparation of the party\u2019s foreign policy strategies in the past two decades. Mr. Nemeth was an<br \/>\nactive supporter of the Act on National and Ethnic Minorities (1993), which grants individual and<br \/>\ncollective rights and the right to self-government for ethnic and national minorities living in<br \/>\nHungary. He also supported the Act on Hungarians Living in Neighbouring Countries (2001), which ensures special benefits for ethnic Hungarians living in the Carpathian Basin. Mr. Nemeth was also among the sponsors of the Act allowing non-resident Hungarians to apply for Hungarian citizenship if they are of Hungarian origin and speak the language (2010).<\/p>\n<p>N\u00e9meth Zsolt 2014 \u00f3ta az Orsz\u00e1ggy\u0171l\u00e9s K\u00fcl\u00fcgyi Bizotts\u00e1g\u00e1nak eln\u00f6ke, valamint a FIDESZ \u2013 Magyar Polg\u00e1ri Sz\u00f6vets\u00e9g parlamenti k\u00e9pvisel\u0151csoportj\u00e1nak frakci\u00f3vezet\u0151-helyettese. Ugyancsak 2014 \u00f3ta az Eur\u00f3pa Tan\u00e1cs magyar k\u00fcld\u00f6tts\u00e9g\u00e9nek vezet\u0151je \u00e9s az Eur\u00f3pa Tan\u00e1cs Eur\u00f3pai N\u00e9pp\u00e1rti k\u00e9pvisel\u0151csoportj\u00e1nak frakci\u00f3vezet\u0151-helyettese, ill. 2016-2018 k\u00f6z\u00f6tt az Eur\u00f3pa Tan\u00e1cs Parlamenti K\u00f6zgy\u0171l\u00e9s\u00e9nek aleln\u00f6ke. Az Interparlament\u00e1ris Uni\u00f3 Magyar-USA Tagozat\u00e1nak eln\u00f6ke, a NATO Parlamenti K\u00f6zgy\u0171l\u00e9s\u00e9nek tagja. Az Eur\u00f3pai N\u00e9pp\u00e1rt Politikai K\u00f6zgy\u0171l\u00e9s\u00e9nek 1998 \u00f3ta tagja.<\/p>\n<p>Between 1990-1994, Mr. N\u00e9meth participated at and headed the Committee on Human<br \/>\nRights, Religions and Minority Affairs in the Parliament. While FIDESZ had majority in the Parliament between 1998-2002, Mr. N\u00e9meth acted as Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Between 2002-2010 Mr. N\u00e9meth was the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs. From 2010 till 2014 Mr. N\u00e9meth acted as Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. N\u00e9meth acted as member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe<br \/>\nbetween 1993-2008 being the Deputy Leader of the Hungarian delegation from 2002. In 2004, he<br \/>\nbecame Member of the European Parliament, where he served on the Committee on Foreign Affairs for a year. Between 2005 to 2008, he was the Vice Chairman of the Political Affairs Committee of the Council of Europe. He is member of the Political Assembly of the European People\u2019s Party (EPP) since 1998.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. N\u00e9meth held and presently holds several honorary and executive positions at non-profit organizations and other NGOs; among others, he was the founder of the Pro Minoritate Foundation, he is the Honorary Chief Superintendent of the Calvinist Congregation of Transsylvania, and a Member of the Knight&#8217;s Order of the Johannites.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. N\u00e9meth studied political science at the Oxford University St. Anthony\u2019s College as a visiting student between 1988-89. He earned his M.A. in Economics and Sociology at the Karl Marx (Corvinus) University of Economic Sciences at Budapest in 1987.
