With\u00a0Hungary and Romania now very much a part of the\u00a0global economy and culture, the people, music, and even\u00a0the regional dialects used in the film, are fast receding\u00a0into the past. I hope to capture some of it for posterity\u00a0before it disappears.\u201d Filmed in Transylvania during\u00a01999, 2001, 2002 and 2006 with co-producer Chris\u00a0Teerink of the Netherlands, the project was supported by\u00a0ArtsLink CEC, National Geographic&#8217;s All Roads Film\u00a0initiative, and by the Nederlands Thuiskopie Fonds. A\u00a0fine cut of the film was screened as part of National\u00a0Geographic&#8217;s Tuesdays at Noon series in Washington,\u00a0D.C., on August 26, 2008.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">FRIDAY\u00a0NOVEMBER 29,\u00a08:30 p.m. Grand\u00a0ballroom, 6th floor,\u00a0$6 donation at the\u00a0door: Troop 214\u00a0(1997),<br \/>\nEnglishlanguage version premier, about the irrepressible nature\u00a0and revival of the Hungarian Scout movement, compared\u00a0to the once popular Communist Pioneers youth\u00a0organization, featuring G\u00e1bor Bod\u00e1r past, Executive\u00a0Director of the Hungarian Scout organization, and\u00a0participants of the 1995 Jamboree camp. (Followed by\u00a0question-answer discussion with audience participation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">GEORGE PAUL CSICSERY, writer &amp; independent filmmaker\u00a0has directed 26 films-dramatic shorts, performance films and\u00a0documentaries, and is the author or co-author of four\u00a0feature-length screenplays. His two most recent works\u00a0are both on mathematical themes. For example, Hard\u00a0Problems: The Road to the World&#8217;s Toughest Math Contest,\u00a0premiered in January 2008. The documentary is about American\u00a0high school students who participated in the 2006 International\u00a0Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Csicsery\u00a0also directed N is a Number: A Portrait of Paul Erd\u00f6s (1993),\u00a0about an eccentric wandering mathematician, and which was\u00a0broadcast on Duna-TV, Hungary (1995),.
