Dr. Balogh Bal\u00e1zs n\u00e9prajz \u00e9s magyar nyelv \u00e9s irodalom szakon v\u00e9gzett az ELTE-n. PhD diplom\u00e1j\u00e1t2001-ben szerezte az ELTE BTK T\u00e1rgyi N\u00e9prajzi Tansz\u00e9k Eur\u00f3pai Etnol\u00f3gia doktori programban. 1991\/92 M\u00fcnchenben a Bajor Kultuszminiszt\u00e9rium Kutat\u00f3i \u00d6szt\u00f6nd\u00edj\u00e1val; 1992\/93 B\u00e9csben Herder \u00d6szt\u00f6nd\u00edjjal;1995 2 h\u00f3napot Soros \u00d6szt\u00f6nd\u00edjjal Cambridgeben tart\u00f3zkodott. 2006-2008-ban a HAESF Senior Fellow \u00f6szt\u00f6ndij\u00e1val a midwesti magyarok k\u00f6r\u00e9ben v\u00e9gzett kiterjedt terepmunk\u00e1t. 2000-ben Jank\u00f3 J\u00e1nos-d\u00edjat kapott; 2002-2005-ben Bolyai J\u00e1nos Kutat\u00f3 \u00d6szt\u00f6nd\u00edjban r\u00e9szes\u00fclt.
