Biography of Maximilian N. Teleki\u00a0Maximilian N. Teleki has been President of the Hungarian \u00a0American Coalition since December 2004. He joined the Coalition in 1994, serving as a Board Member for eleven years. \u00a0Mr. Teleki holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and a Master of Arts degree in International Relations and Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS)
\nin Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n
In 1995, Mr. Teleki was a Graduate Intern at the White House, the first \u201cWhite House Intern\u201d from the Hungarian American Coalition. \u00a0Since 2000, Mr. Teleki has been Adjunct Professor at the Catholic University of America, teaching coursers on Media and International Relations and Comparative World Politics.<\/p>\n
Mr. Teleki has nearly 20 years of broad business experience. \u00a0In 2000 he formed The Max-McClaren Financial Group (MMFG) to pursue real estate investment opportunities. MMFG acquires and develops real estate and provides advisory services. Other areas of Mr. Teleki\u2019s experience include telecommunications, marketing, and business development and government affairs. Prior to 2000 he worked at AT&T Corp., where he managed the Operational Planning for an organization of several hundred associates. He has also represented engineering and technology companies in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n
Mr. Teleki joined the Board of Directors of E-Star Alternative Energy, Plc in early 2011. E-Star is considered the leading alternative energy company in Central Europe, with operations in Poland, Romania and Hungary. \u00a0In 2011, Mr. Teleki helped establish the Tom Lantos Institute, headquartered in Budapest, Hungary, and serves on their board in the Executive Committee. The institute is a research and advocacy institution with a focus on human and minority rights in Central-Eastern Europe and the Western Balkans.<\/p>\n
In 2007 he became a Board Member of the International Center for Democratic Transition, a non-partisan international organization which collects experiences from past democratic transitions and shares it with those who are determined to follow that path. Mr. Teleki has since left that position. \u00a0From 2007-2010 he was a member the International Board of Directors of the Constellation Energy Institute, an organization that fosters cooperation on energy security issues in Central Eastern Europe.<\/p>\n
He is a native of Northern California, but has lived in the Washington, D.C. region for over 20 years. Mr. Teleki also lived in South America and Europe for many of his formative years. \u00a0He is married to Wendy Teleki, Senior Manager at the International Finance Corporation (IFC). They have a 7 year-old son, Tibor, and 5-year-old twin daughters, Ava and Naoma. \u00a0Mr. Teleki travels extensively to Central Europe and particularly to Hungary both in his capacity as the Coalition\u2019s President and as a passionate Hungarian American. He is true to the traditions of his name: members of the Teleki family, an ancestral Transylvanian family, have served Hungary over hundreds of years in various public capacities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
